Atlantic Area SEAFUEL Project Launch

Last week Action Renewables staff attended the kick off meeting for the EU Atlantic Area €3.5m funded SEAFUEL Project, led by NUI Galway. SEAFUEL will be examining the potential for converting renewable energy to hydrogen for use in powering public transport networks.

Our Role
Action Renewables will be working with the various project partners to deliver a range of tangible outputs from the project. These will include producing a range of world class case studies of regions that aim to incorporate hydrogen fuel technology into their local transport networks and will examine areas within and outside the partnership.

During the project’s initial stages, a hydrogen fuel pilot site will be installed on the island of Tenerife and Action Renewables will be developing a virtual tour to be hosted on the SEAFUEL website to allow interested parties to experience the plant from the comfort of their own desk. A business model and toolkit will be developed to enable other organisations to establish if they too can follow the SEAFUEL template for their own hydrogen project.

A range of seminars will be arranged by Action Renewables over the course of the project in each of the regions beginning with the first in Belfast in June 2018. The seminars will be used to both disseminate information on the case studies and toolkit while allowing for other organisations to feedback what they would like to see to SEAFUEL members.
